Senior/Staff Platform Engineer

VRChat is seeking a Senior/Staff Platform Engineer to own the reliability, performance, and scalability of our production platform serving millions of users. You'll define SLIs/SLOs, build monitoring systems, and operate highly available infrastructure. **Your Impact:** - Improve overall platform reliability, availability, and user experience - Design and implement SLI/SLO/SLA frameworks for platform components - Build comprehensive monitoring, observability, and alerting systems - Establish incident response processes and post-mortem culture - Architect changes to improve performance and reduce operational toil - Mentor platform engineers and foster site reliability culture - Research and evaluate infrastructure technologies and platforms - Partner with product teams on reliability and performance considerations - Own critical operational playbooks and runbooks **What You Need:** - 8+ years in site reliability engineering, DevOps, or platform engineering - 5+ years in operational responsibility for production systems - Deep hands-on Linux, containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), and cloud infrastructure - Proficiency in one or more programming languages (Go, Python, Rust preferred) - Strong database expertise (relational, NoSQL, cache layers) - Experience designing systems for high availability and fault tolerance - Comfort with infrastructure-as-code and configuration management - Ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-engineers **Why VRChat:** Build infrastructure for the metaverse.
