Canonical is hiring Python Engineers across all teams and seniority levels. If you're an outstanding Python developer passionate about open-source software and cutting-edge technologies, we want to hear from you. **What You'll Do:** - Write high-quality, well-designed, and thoroughly tested Python software - Collaborate proactively with globally distributed teams - Display technical leadership at Canonical and in open-source communities - Debug issues and produce excellent code to fix them - Contribute to documentation with an aim to make it the best available - Work from home with global travel twice yearly for company events **About You:** - Exceptional academic track record (high school and university) - Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, STEM, or compelling alternative path - Track record of exceeding expectations and going above-and-beyond - Well-organized, self-starting, able to deliver on schedule - Professional manner with colleagues, partners, and community - Experience writing modern, maintainable Python code - Detail-oriented with focus on performance - Professional English (written and verbal) - Linux experience (Debian/Ubuntu preferred) - Excellent interpersonal skills, curiosity, and flexibility - Result-oriented with drive to meet commitments - Ability to travel twice yearly for company events (up to 2 weeks) **Nice-to-Have Skills:** - Container technologies (LXD, Docker, Kubernetes) - Build systems and toolchains - Golang, Rust, C/C++ - Deep quality and test engineering - Web or Flutter front-end - REST and gRPC APIs - SQL and NoSQL expertise - Public cloud or OpenStack experience - Debian/Ubuntu packaging - Systems programming or scalable web services
